Kilimanjaro Day 1

 

Here are the routes up Kilimanjaro. I took the Machame route (orange) starting on the south west of the mountain and working it’s way around the south for a somewhat south east approach to the summit from Barafu Camp. My days were Machame camp, Shira Caves Camp, Barranco, Karanga Camp, and Barafu Camp, then the summit.

 

 

 

 

Here I am at the Machame Gate. Lots of red tape and signing in before we head out. I couldn’t believe how many hikers there were.

This is the start of the hike. You can see the load the porters are carrying. A four wheel drive road for 45 mins.
